The videos below walks through crafting and usage of the electrical items that can be accessed by the player. as many have already mentioned the explosion damage will fok up your surrounding traps, especially the electric fence post (even if they are placed behind blocks) that are fragile but you can prevent this by upgrading the walls to Steel, because they absorb absurd amounts of blast damage. ![]() When something triggers the motion sensor, it can turn on the turret.Įach switch has a wattage rating and, like relays must be included in calculating the wattage needed by the circuit. This way, when the turret isn't needed, it isn't consuming wattage (a concern when using a Battery Bank). For example a motion sensor, which uses only 5W, can be used to briefly turn on an auto turret, which uses 15W. Switches can be used to control how much wattage is used by a "resting" circuit. Switches are used to control when power flows beyond the switch, for example, to manually turn on lights or to turn them on when motion is detected. Switches include manual switches that players must activate and automated switches, such as the motion sensor, which trigger on events. Relays, any amount (if wattage allows it), can be used in a chain of sensors. It’s a good idea to put a post every 5-6 blocks or so, this way if one near the end of your fence area is destroyed, the wires. Placing relays in between sensors to ensure the signal goes through for capturing the target with sensory surfaces ( motion sensor must spot target to allow signal to pass through). Word of caution though - zombies will attack the posts sometimes, or they get taken down by exploding cops or bombs you throw, and if a post is destroyed that severs the link to the generation (and thus the power). Important to know: Relays do not extend signals between motion sensors and other sensor devices, if you chain group of motion sensors to power specific mechanism, any of the sensors will trigger it, and unless you put relay or a switch, it will block out the signal. Timer relays activate during specific times of the day, allowing, for example, one to turn the lights on at night.Įach relay consumes wattage from the circuit and must be considered when calculating the amount of wattage needed for the circuit. There are two types of relays regular and timer relays. Relays can extend the range of a wire between devices and they can also be used to organise wiring. When calculating the amount of power needed, add up the wattage of all items to be powered (including relays and switches) and make sure your power source provides at least the sum of all items.Ĭircuits can include relays. Power sources have an amount of wattage they can provide and every electrical item has an amount of wattage it consumes. To complete a basic circuit, using the Wire Tool you Right-click the power source to start a wired connection, then you Right-click the powered device (such as a light) to end the connection. ![]() Power sources include battery banks, generator banks, and solar banks. ![]() To use powered items you will need a power source and the item. Only one electrical item can provide power at a time, but all electrical items can transfer power to multiple - but not infinite - items at a time.Īny 2 electrical devices can have at most 10 blocks between the 2 devices in order for them to be connectable using the Wire Tool. Like so.Electricity allows one to use several new, powered items such as lights, sensors, electric doors and various traps.Īs a general rule, all connectable electrical items follow a single-in, multi-out rule when connecting engines, banks, traps, lights, switches, and relays together. I use the Pillar 0.05m Double block, there's a Farm that has these poles around it's POI as a fence and I like them, I would love to have electrical wires along with them as well. I would use the Off Centered Electrical Wire to better my defenses and have the wire match the same blocks I use as my fence. I think the Off Centered and the 1x1x1 Electrical Wire Posts would be more useful than QoL, especially the off centered one but they all have a bit of QoL to them as well. I see, so you want those variations mostly for QoL or, let's say, ease of use. The 1x1x1 shape would be useful for the QoL of not having to dig a hole in the ground for a post that isn't needed or hang it from the ceiling of something or make it not have proper visuals by it floating because 1 block of the small post is "touching" something, etc Hmm.
